One of the "happy places" in my life has been the many times I've been able to "go to mom and dads."
Living close has it's advantages.
It's been 10 plus years since this picture was taken (thanks Arlene), but I sure like it.
Dad has a rain gauge in his left hand. He liked gadgets.
He kept their yard up, nice. Watered and mowed!
Look at that beautiful white fence and bell post.
He liked to puttering around out there, spraying weeds and keeping things up.
(We miss him, huh, Mom!)
They used to have a garden out back.
Dad liked to give me the "birds and bees, corn fertilization" talk while we planted.
Even though I'd heard it a hundred times. He got excited about how corn pollinated.
It about killed him to leave his farm and dairy.
In fact, don't think he ever would have ever retired, if his body would have held up.
He loved to work.
That bell!
It was a real dinner bell, we brought it into town from the Dairy.
Mom used to ring it when it was time for us to come in and eat.
It kinda has a sad tone, now.
Gosh, I miss you Dad!

Why was I in such a hurry to have this time of my life go by?
It was so important! and fun!
If I could "wish it back", I wouldn't always be "thinking",
"Boy, I'll be glad when this (little kid) stage of life is over and I have a whole day to do what I want...uninterrupted!" (ETC!)
After all,
what you do with them at this stage of their lives,
will greatly determine your
Joy with them later!
So advice from this Granny: Seize the day! Enjoy!

I cooked today...in this order.... Bread. Granola. Pizza and Oatmeal cookies.
By the time I got to the cookies, it was lunchtime and the kitchen was smelling might fine.
Steve walked by me and gave me a little pinch on the bum.
Which....after 36 years of marriage, means....
"Thanks Hon! This food smells good and I appreciate you."
He didn't say a word, just a "little poke" but I knew exactly what he was thinking.
It's nice to have been together long enough that we understand each others little love cues.
He does so much for me...a little cookin' is the least I can do.

A sweet nephew gave Grandma Lois tickets to a Jazz Game.
Against Phoenix Suns! (See Mom I did know who you went to see.)
They had fabulous seats...4th row up behind the players! She could see them sweat!
Needless to say, she LOVED it!
Here's some Pictures to prove it....complete with captions.
Arriving early at Energy Solutions, alias, Delta Center.
Gr-ma surprised us as she gracefully descended down 200 steps.
Living Proof: where there is a will, there is a way!
Two handsome sons, checking in with "stay at home" wives.
Players coming in...can you feel the excitement in the air?
Nice seats, can you tell? "eye level!"
LAH: "There's our boys!"View: ONE HAPPY FAN!
BELOW: Ron Boon: announcer. Not like 'ole Hot Rod, by any stretch of the imagination.
Okay....This guy I know (and love).
John Stockton!
Still the best ever!
And to think he actually shook Grandma's hand!
Woot!
He's still a class act!
It's okay to have a tattoo if you are a star player, huh, Mom!
If you have any questions about any player or how they are doing in the play-offs, feel free to contact:

I heard once that if a wife would give their husband a great big hug and kiss and hold on to him....
for at least a full minute ....
and then kiss his neck....
and hug him even tighter,
that he will do better in his job that day.
I tried it.
Boy, it was fun.
Steve always smells so good and is very huggable!
He hugged me right back...as if to say...(sigh) "I guess I can slay the dragon one more day...for YOU!
Don't know for sure if he actually
did better on his Sales that day....
but...I'm glad he knew...
that irregardless,
I truly appreciate his efforts!
P.S. I'm so glad I'm NOT the man in charge of our income.
Steve is simply the best.

Most mornings I can look forward to a call from this handsome son. He's my alarm clock...calling at 5:30 my time...7:30 his time.
We chat while he drives to work.
I look forward to it!
Often he shares concerns of situations he's contemplating about.
We talk about the blessings of the Gospel.
He has recently invited his Ward to be 100% in their scripture reading, family prayers and in having Family Home Evening.
100%? Redge! what a thing to ask?
But why can't we be? 100% !
in the very thing which will keep us safe....
unite our families....
bring us blessings....
empower our children (and ourselves) in the principles of the Gospel....
make us strong and able to be a united eternal family?
I would do anything to assure that.
This mornings discussion included this thought:
Redge: "Hopefully none of my children go astray.
but if they someday do...."
"I want (have) to know that I did everything.
everything.
100%. as a parent.
that the Lord has counseled us to do."
He goes on....
"That means...in our family...the BASICS
(our family's nick name for FHE. Scripture and Prayer),
are done each and every day.
If the soccer game, dance, piano, friend over, a party interferes
with the Basics....
sorry....we won't be able to do them.
Period. the end.
And he means it.
Experience tells me that we mostly do what we really want to do.
Okay Mr. Bishop, I re- commit!
100%! I'll mark my calender and show you when you come!
Have a good day, Redge.
I'm proud of you.
